Come for Coffee at Sweet Obsession's
Sweet 16th Birthday Celebration, July 5

Sweet Obsession Cakes and Pastries is celebrating 16 sweet years at its 16-seat 16th Avenue pastry shop and cafe by inviting customers to come in for complimentary coffee or tea on Sunday, July 5 from 8 am to 10 pm. Pastry Chef Tracy Kadonoff will be handing out mega-cookies all day and cutting a special birthday cake to share with customers at 4 pm, while it lasts. Sweet Obsession co-owners Lorne Tyczenski and Stephen Greenham will also be on hand to reminisce with their many long-time patrons and friends.

Since its opening in 1993, Sweet Obsession Cakes and Pastries has used a lot of butter - about 36,500 kg (nearly 80,500 lbs) - to make its popular flavour-rich cakes, flans and tarts. And not just any butter. It has to be sweet butter, from New Zealand where Tyczenski says "they make the best butter there is." Add to that about 58,500 kg (128,970 lbs) Belgian chocolate, groves of coconuts, crates of fresh lemons and seasonal raspberries, a talented pastry chef and ever-enthusiastic staff, and you've got a recipe for longevity.

Today, Chef Kadonoff continues to turn high quality ingredients into Sweet Obsession's signature confections from ultra-dense Bitter Sweet Chocolate Butter Cream to light Lemon Mousse Cake to Mocha Torte, Tiramsu and Dulce de Leche.

Trafalgars Celebrates Too
